Introduction
Our group decided to focus on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) will impact healthcare. These slides will explain the growing impact AI will have on the industry, and address concerns regarding potential risks AI may have towards patients.
Implementation
Education is vital when implementing AI in healthcare, as a proper understanding of the software is needed in order to give accurate results. Without this knowledge, there would be no forms of checks and balances in order to make sure the patient is getting the quality care they need, and doctors will always be needed in order to analyze and explain the data.
Implementing Artificial Intelligence into healthcare has the amazing ability to improve treatments while massively cutting down costs for customers and saving loads of money in the US healthcare economy. In the beginning, it will be quite costly to start including more forms of AI into healthcare. However, there is a strong belief in its potential to revolutionize healthcare, as many people are willing to advocate and invest in the industry. In 2019, investors poured in $4 billion into the implementation of AI in the healthcare industry. This number is said to increase to $6.6 billion in 2021. In years after its implementation, benefits will eventually greatly outweigh the costs and reward investors. By 2026, it is estimated that $150 billion could be saved every year in the US healthcare economy if the healthcare industry uses AI applications.
Ethical and practical questions have been rising as the implementation of AI increases. Privacy on data collected, transparency, and trustworthiness are needed to apply AI successfully. Using AI must be to put the patient’s health first and should be open and applicable to all groups of people. Researchers at MIT found that a facial recognition software program did not perform correctly on darker-skinned females. This should never happen, as everyone needs to be able to receive the benefits AI offers. AI should be used to improve technology and grant people a greater sense of relief and security in regard to their health.
Prototype
Coinciding with the best solution we came up with, our group came up with a prototype that addresses our concerns about educating healthcare providers. Our idea is to provide an easily navigable and efficient operating system. This operating system would focus on enhancing the client facing experience. One of the problems identified was how healthcare providers may be unfamiliar with operating systems so our solution was to create an operating system that is completely user friendly. As a result, healthcare providers will have increased productivity and give better care to their patients.
Solutions
One of the main problems worrying individuals familiar with artificial intelligence in healthcare is how to prevent patient injuries. Through researching solutions to this problem, three solutions stick out: quality data, oversight and increased education in health care. By having quality data sets, it allows the information system to perform excellent statistical analysis. More data and better quality data decreases discrepancies and provides health care providers with a clearer picture. The second solution looks at the checks and balances needed in order to make sure the information system operates properly. The FDA regulates AI software in the healthcare market. This allows healthcare providers to understand they are acquiring a quality product. Additionally, health care associations are offering their stamp of approval to firms that inquire. The last solution is to educate health care providers about artificial intelligence. At the end of the day, it is the doctor diagnosing the patient. The doctor should have a basic understanding of the statistical analysis going on and how the information systems work. In turn, this will allow the doctor to notice irregularities.

The best solution for the patient injury problem is to provide healthcare providers with an educational basis. This creates the most impactful results. The most important line of communication is between the doctor and the information system. The technology is supposed to enhance his medical care to his or her patients. In this scenario, the goal of artificial intelligence is to combine the information system’s explicit knowledge with the doctor’s tacit knowledge. Two IT systems that will be utilized are data warehouses and SQL. A data warehouse is important because it contains a portfolio of data for the artificial intelligence system to access. SQL is important because it allows healthcare providers to better synthesize the data. These two IT systems play an integral part in healthcare’s use of artificial intelligence.

Project Proposal
Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is a groundbreaking type of computer science that focuses on building intelligent machines that can perform tasks only humans would be able to do. With the aid of AI, we are able to solve complex problems that would be too difficult for humans to answer on their own. Doctors and hospitals use AI in health care to access extensive data sets of life-saving information. This helps them determine possible treatment options, survival rates, speed of care, geographical locations, and recognizing interconnecting health problems. The use of AI in health can detect certain trends from the data and notify a doctor of potential health problems a patient may have. AI is not like a typical computer program, as it has the ability to “learn” and make life-saving decisions based on given data. It is an ever-evolving field that can spread to any industry but is arguably the most important in health care.
